Winter Is Here!

I'm so glad that it's finally chilly outside and feels like winter! For some reason, I love running and swimming in the cold way more than the heat, so it's definitely my favorite time of year for exercising (very strange, I know). The work weeks continue to feel really busy, so most weekends I've spent totally relaxing and vegging out, usually reading or scrapbooking while drinking hot cocoa, so I don't have too many photos. But, I wanted to do a little round-up of some random snaps from (winter) life lately!

Movie Date with Mom

A few weeks ago my mom and I went to the movies to see Ladybird, followed by a trip to our favorite healthy ice cream place, Pressed Juicery. It was the perfect little Saturday date. The movie was really touching and not Hollywood-ey at all, which was refreshing. I seriously love spending quality time with my beautiful mom.

Thanksgiving

This year's Thanksgiving was relatively relaxing and quieter than usual. Lots of our closest family members were out of town that day, so I hung out with some of the Pires' and then went to my mom's afterwards. We had lots of delicious food (my favorite was my mom's homemade vegan butternut squash soup). It was extra special this year though because my Poa Poa was here. Usually she is back in Hong Kong for the holidays, so it was really nice to have her here, especially because she loves to send us home with about 10lbs of fruit - it's the Chinese way).

Google Finance Holiday Party

Each year we alternate between the POps and Finance holiday party. This year, we went to Finance and had a blast! We hung out with his team and completely danced the night away. It's been awhile since we've danced our hearts out like that. It was sooo fun. I'm also proud to say that we were the couple that started the dance floor (there was no one on it when we started dancing and by the end, it was packed)! One thing that Derek has taught me is to have confidence and not care what people think about you. He embodies this every day....and especially when he's on a dance floor! :-)

Adventures with Mercy

No blog post of mine would be complete without some photos of Mercy :-) We've had a few adventures lately, ranging from Build-A-Bear (she likes to build unicorns though), dinner at California Pizza Kitchen, movie theatre date nights (we were literally holding hands and skipping in the movie theatre parking lot on our way to see Coco - she was SO excited), and playground time. Her favorite thing to say is "Silly Auntie Nay Nay" or "Silly Uncle Derek"; she continues to be a perfectionist when it comes to organizing her toys or cards; and she makes friends at the playground instantly. She also is very easy going, and will always say "it's ok" or "it's fine" when something goes wrong (today she accidentally dropped half her lunch on the floor and instantly proclaimed "it's ok!") She is growing up right before my eyes, and I'm loving every second of it.
