Austin, Texas
Sometimes I tag along with my mom as she goes to various conferences across the country so that we can spend some extra time together. And this year, I decided to accompany her to AUSTIN, TEXAS! I got to work from our office there each day while she attended her conference. It was so nice to mix up the daily routine and experience some new Texan scenery!
We're not the biggest meat eaters, so we didn't do the typical BBQ and southern food tastings. Instead, we had a blast doing what we love most - spending every evening after work walking around and:
- exploring the University of Texas: in all honesty, it reminded me of San Diego State. It was really pretty and basically smack dab in the middle of downtown
- going to the biggest, most amazing flagship Whole Foods for veggies and smoothies (we went there 3 times because it was that huge)
- wandering down 6th street: I've never been to New Orleans, but it reminded me of what I picture it to be in my mind!
- driving to San Antonio to see the Alamo and Riverwalk: I hadn't been there since I was a kid, and it was a lot smaller than I remembered. But, I'm glad we did it!
- taking pictures in front of SO MANY cool murals (Austin has so many hidden gem murals and we were slightly obsessed)
Aside from experiencing all the Texan adventures, we also spent time together doing all the non-fancy things that we love most: watching The Bachelor and This Is Us, chatting about pretty much everything, shopping, and just relaxing in the hotel room.
Time with my mom is so special to me. She is my rock, and I love having such fun memories like this with her that I will be able to look back on forever. From running back to our hotel after getting caught in the rain, to wandering around Whole Foods in awe of it all, to road tripping to San Antonio - we had so many hilarious moments. I love this woman to the moon and back! Xoxo
