New England with Mom

Portsmouth (new hampshire) & Kittery (Maine)

My mom and I kicked off our amazing girls’ weekend by doing a mini half-day trip from Boston to Portsmouth, where we walked around the adorable shops before walking over the bridge to Maine! It was the perfect fall day, and we were obsessed with the quaint, cute vibe of the whole area. Even though we’ll still never know what happened to her brown hat (the mystery of the brown hat) — we enjoyed walking around, exploring all the homemade soap shops, drinking delicious smoothies, and everyone assuming we were sisters (lol). We were debating whether to go on our first day there, and we’re so glad we did. Perfect way to start our trip!

Boston (MASSACHUSETTS)

We spent the next 2 days in Boston, where we literally went into a Ka-Ling & Renee bubble (both of our happy places). On the first day, we went to the Titanic Exhibition (random, but cool to see), walked through Boston Public Garden to get some foliage pics of the STUNNING trees, explored Beacon Hill (home to the cutest book shop we’ve ever been to!). We also found ourselves at “Cheers!” before heading back to our favorite mall and eating at our favorite place (Life Alive Cafe — the most delicious healthy cafe ever!) That evening, we did some eye masks while watching the Golden Bachelorette together. Every time I looked over, my mom was sleeping, so I’m not sure if she really “watched” it, but we’ll pretend she did :) It was the perfect day, spent laughing, talking, exploring and just being together.

On the second day, we went to Little Italy to get some fresh pastries for the family. It was a gorgeous walk! We then went to our million dollar massages at The Tox! This was something we were both dreaming about, so to finally experience the detox massages was incredible. Not to mention my massage therapist thought I was a college student, which pretty much made my whole week. We laughed our way through the whole experience - it was very relaxing, and definitely worth the 30 min fast we had to do (although my mom almost broke it right before). After feeling light as a feather after our massages, we spent the rest of the afternoon shopping on Newbury Street. It felt like a dream and was perhaps my favorite part of the whole trip. We went into all the good, bougie stores, got lost in them, and just bopped around all day. Is there anything better than that? We also stopped at L.A. Burdick for the most delicious hot cocoa date together, before falling victim to the “chocolate chaos whirlwind” and buying tons of chocolate (so worth it though!). My mom ate the most delicious avocado seafood toast of her life, and we had the best day we could ever dream of, lost in time together.

It was one of those trips that sticks with you forever — the kind of trip where you want time to stand still and you want to relive the day and moment over and over. Having completely uninterrupted, dedicated time with my mom is one of the greatest luxuries of my life. Being around her aura and energy is so healing for my soul. She is truly my best friend. I could not love that woman more. She is the epitome of a beautiful human, inside and out. Cheers to a memorable, special trip with the best mother in the world (LITERALLY). Xoxo!
