San Diego Sunshine
Every time I come back to beautiful SD I feel so nostalgic - almost everywhere I go has some sort of wonderful memory associated with it! My mom and I visited for a few days, and although we both had to work during the days, we squeezed in as much as we could in the early mornings and evenings.
The first night we landed and had dinner with Kaylene & Quincy; now that Q is getting older he's getting a little more rambunctious! It was my mom's first time meeting him... and she fell in love instantly (I mean, look at that face. How can you not?)
The second day, I ran around the bay in the morning (always so beautiful). Afterwards, we walked along the beach and my mom took her first jumping photo ever in her life lol. In the evening we decided to go to Pacific Beach and grab salads and smoothies from the Mad Beet, a hipster and really yummy smoothie place. Afterwards we practically ran to the beach to catch the sunset. We got there just in time, and OMG it was so worth it. San Diego sunsets....they never disappoint!
The next day I got up at the crack of dawn to do my ALL TIME favorite run along the boardwalk. I got to catch the sunrise before meeting Brittnie for our early morning hike at Cowles Mountain - another one on my favorites list. It was so great catching up with her and cracking up at our old memories from college. After that I raced over to Starbucks to meet Megan and her adorable 3-month old baby Jackson! He's literally so cute, words can't even describe.... That evening my mom and I went to Tender Greens in Downtown SD before walking to the Gaslamp to do some shopping and drink hot cocoa :)
I've come to realize the importance of seizing opportunities to travel and spend time with people I love. This week was crazy-busy with work and honestly not the best week to work remotely. But at the end of the day, life is short. And it's not work that I'll remember when I'm old and wrinkly, but the times I spent with people I love most.
