Life Lately

PAINT NITE

  • We kicked off the new year painting the night away in downtown Gilroy. The painting was REALLY hard (note the black rectangles that should look like islands....). Nevertheless, the difficulty of the painting made the night memorable (and hysterical). We struggled so much with the islands and the shadows and the coloring! Then, as we were leaving we saw that one lady painted a couple in a boat on the water. It was SO legit and made us feel even more inferior lol.

FAMILY & FRIENDS

  • January and early February have been filled with lots of family bonding time (unfortunately not all of it is even captured here!) We've had a couple of taco nights already. My mom hosted one recently, and it was complete with taco shell holders (naturally). She's a PRO :)
  • I've also been spending lots of time with my adorable niece Mercy. She is 2 and a half now and:
    • loves to play with her blocks and cars
    • is obsessed with her Frozen Elsa dolls
    • loves to play chase (she'll run up to you and say "tag, you're it" before running away laughing)
    • loves being outside
    • calls me "Auntie Nay Nay" all the time
    • loves to play "hide" under her blanket with me
    • loves chocolate
    • loves scooting her chair around the kitchen so she can stand on it to help cook
    • loves to scream and run to me whenever she sees Uncle Derek (pronounced "Uncle Dewek") hehe
  • I got my sister ready for her winter formal dance (her last one as a senior!) She looked absolutely gorgeous in her blue dress. Her boyfriend Sunny got so dressed up and they looked adorable together. Next up: Senior Prom in May!
  • I spent time with the Portuguese clan because we had at least 5 February birthdays to celebrate. We had lunch at Grandma Pires' and I had a blast running around with all the kiddos.
  • We went on a "triple date" (Tash had to work, so Chris was Kevin's date) at Opa's in Los Gatos with Derek's clones (I mean, friends). All of his friends have the exact same sense of humor as him, so that means that I spend the entire time cracking up. It was great catching up with everyone (especially Shannon), although we missed our Mike/Courtney and Danny/Megan!
