Mother's Day Celebrations
She'll deny it because she's pretty critical of herself, but my mother is simply beautiful, inside and out. She's taught me so much: the importance of a healthy lifestyle, how to navigate relationships with other people, and the power of a hard work ethic. But most of all, she's given me a strong sense of self. When I was growing up, she made it her priority to take us to Asia to visit our family so we would always know our roots and where we came from. For this, I will forever be grateful.
It's also worth nothing that every time I see her, I can bet that she'll have a little something for me, which is always a token of her love; whether it's a jar of homemade granola, a bag of chocolate covered pretzels, a cute new top, or some new lotion. She's always thinking about me.
She's also my biggest advocate. She's fiercely protective of all of her children and will go to great lengths to make sure we are safe and happy. And lastly, she's the shoulder I can always cry on. A few years ago, I vividly remember sobbing on the floor of my room after being overwhelmed by the death of my grandpa and undergoing a lot of other stress and pressure. I remember that she sat on the floor holding me and talking to me until I felt better. Her love is both relentless and healing.
My role model, my friend, and my mother, all wrapped into one. What did I ever do to deserve her? Happy Mother's Day, mom - I love you!
"My mom is a never-ending song in my heart of comfort, happiness, and being. I may sometimes forget the words, but I always remember the tune." -Unknown
