Sister Date in the City

The good thing about having a sibling who is waaaay younger than me is that the older we both get, the more we "meet in the middle". We share more and more in common as we age, plus the age gap feels like it shrinks. For example, when she was 5, I was 14, and the age gap felt huge (obviously). But in a few months, we'll be in the same decade (I'll be 29 and she'll be 20). Although your 20's are an interesting time, there are a lot of "adulting" moments that we can relate to together now!

As I've mentioned before, my sister means the world to me. I don't have the best memory and I tend to remember how I felt in certain moments rather than what actually happened. But I can vividly recall the day my sister was born, and I remember feeling like I could not contain my excitement. My relationship with her is more like a mashup of being big sis/auntie/second mom/best friend in a lot of ways. It's the best :-)

We were both in need of some quality sister time over this holiday, so we ventured up to SF for the day. We started at the Walt Disney Family Museum at the Presidio. There were 17 rooms that told the story of Walt Disney's life from his ancestry to his birth to his interests to his failures and successes. His story was so interesting and inspiring. Main takeaways were: 1) Mickey Mouse was actually not very cute when he was originally created (he looked too mousey) and 2) often times failure can catapult you into success (for example, when Oswald the Lucky Rabbit failed, he immediately knew he needed a new character... and Mickey Mouse was born!) Our favorite part of the museum was the Disneyland replica at the end. We are going to Disneyland in a few weeks and it got us even more excited!

After the museum, we stopped at the Full House house and snapped a few pics on the stairs. It was so cool! I was surprised at how many people were there taking pictures too. It totally made us want to watch Full House again :-)

Lastly, we went to Union Square for lunch and shopping. We ended up getting huge delicious salads before getting her some new clothes before she begins her next quarter in LA. My favorite part of the day was blasting Taylor Swift's new CD in the car on the way there and back, talking about literally everything, and sipping on hot cocoa together. Definitely one of my favorite sister dates of all time. Xoxo
