Left our Hearts in Seoul
A few weeks before Thanksgiving we spontaneously decided go to South Korea for a getaway. I went in 2010 but have always wanted to go back, while Derek has always wanted to go, plus loves Asia (honestly I’ve never met someone who loves traveling to Asia more than him - I’m so grateful for that). So we went - and had an incredible trip. We were there for 5 full days, and over that time we walked over 40 miles total. Each day went something like this: morning gym then reading in the hot tub; explore Seoul all day; go to our favorite bookstore (it was massive); read some more back at hotel; get amazing nights sleep. It was the perfect vacation because we were very present (didn’t look at my laptop, Instagram, or even use the internet the entire time). Instead, I read 4 novels cover to cover, and really just tried to live in a bubble, which is the best (maybe only) way for me to recharge.
We did so much exploring on this trip - including the big palace, all the markets including Namdaemung, Dongdaemung, Myeong-dong, Kwangjang (our favorite), the tower, Google office, Gangnam District, Olympic Village, Korean War Memorial, looking into N. Korea (and learning so much about Korea’s history) and so much more. The best parts though were just walking around together, going into a million bakeries together, and just enjoying each other’s company. Seoul is so beautiful and vibrant, I’m still in awe of how livable it is! Below are some pictures of the highlights of our trip. Oh and if it looks like we are wearing the same thing in every single picture, it’s because we are lol. We packed very lightly and re-wore our jackets/pants because I refuse to ever check a bag while traveling :)
It’s safe to say that Seoul will always have our hearts. Xoxo.
