Big Sur
Over the fourth of July holiday weekend, we went on a “mini sibling road trip” down Highway 1 with Luke and Sophia. We had been planning to do this for awhile ever since we took them out to lunch at the beginning of summer and we all realized that we have never seen Big Sur despite all of us being born and raised here. So we decided to make it happen - we picked them up early Friday morning and headed towards McWay Falls. On the way, we stopped to see Bixby Bridge (my favorite part of the trip, given Reese Witherspoon drives on it in the opening credits of Big Little Lies). The road was pretty windy (cue some nausea), but the views were stunning! We made it to McWay Falls (the water was so blue) before turning around and heading back to Big Sur for lunch. The little restaurants and shops at Big Sur were really cute and quaint. From there, we drove up to Andrew Molera State Park, where we went on a long walk down to the beach just to find that it was extremely windy - the sand was going everywhere including our eyes! Towards the end of the afternoon, we were pretty tired from a long day of driving and being caught in a sandstorm (lol) so we headed back to our hotel in Seaside for the night, where we grabbed dinner and went to bed pretty early. The next morning we drove back early to beat traffic. I must say that it was really nice to have quality time with Luke and Sophia, who are both oddly mature for their age, super chill, and have the sweetest souls. I love hanging with them! Can’t wait to plan our next adventure… Xoxo
