Penang, Malaysia

One of our goals has always been to visit my great-grandmother’s house in Penang, Malaysia, a place that holds a special piece of my heart. Not only did my mom live there as a child, she took us there frequently growing up, so I’m always flooded with memories and nostalgia whenever I return.

After a grueling 16 hour flight to Singapore, we had a long layover where Derek enjoyed his favorite food in the world: chicken satay. We finally boarded our next flight and flew the short distance to Penang. We spent the week with family, reminiscing on wonderful memories of our times visiting while growing up. One of our favorite things was visiting the monkeys at the botanical gardens, walking around Armenian Street, and going to the top of Penang Hill (all things that I remember doing as a kid!) We also enjoyed early morning work outs at our beautiful hotel, and going to the rooftop each morning to watch the sunrise together. Although it was a long and tiring trip, it was worth it. Malaysia will always have my heart, and if there’s one thing I know to be true, it’s that family is everything.💜
