Vienna, Prague & Budapest
Vienna
I have fantasized about living in a city where I could take a “casual” long weekend to Europe, and I finally did it. Vienna, Prague, and Budapest have been on my travel list for awhile. I have been curious about eastern Europe so I was very excited to know that we could take day trips from Vienna to explore Czechia and Hungary. We took a direct overnight flight to Vienna and hit the ground running once we landed early Friday morning. It was a beautiful, sunny day and we spent the afternoon marveling at St Stephen’s Cathedral, Heldenplatz, and the beautiful architecture of all the Viennese buildings (including the gold). Visiting Sigmeund Freud’s home and practice was another highlight of our time in Vienna. Seeing where he lived and worked (right across the hall) for 47 years was incredible! I loved walking all around the safe and clean streets of Vienna!
Prague
On Saturday we did a long day trip to Prague. It was absolutely freezing (and snowing) that day, but it did not take away from the beauty of the city. Again, I was impressed by the magnificent buildings, adorable shops and pubs, the orange topped views, and the famous clock tower. I definitely want to go back to Prague to spend more time there!
Budapest
On Sunday we did another day trip, but this time to Budapest! I was SO excited to see what Budapest would be like, and it did not disappoint. It was an interesting mix of Greek and Gothic architecture, and I loved all the spires on top of the buildings. Wandering around the castle and looking out from Buda into Pest was a true “pinch me” moment. Similar to Prague, I want to go back to Budapest to explore the streets more and learn even more about the history. Overall, it was a quick but busy trip and we had so much fun exploring new countries together (as always). Xoxo
