Paris is for Lovers

Now that I live in the northeast, I’ve always wanted to do a “quick trip to Paris” — and my dream finally came true over Thanksgiving. We were planning to visit Bogota, but changed it to France so we could also visit the Beaches of Normandy (another bucket list item). It was such a special trip. We took an overnight flight there, and rallied the entire day. We walked a ton — and had such a fun time having tea with Jade and her mom. We explored the major sites (Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, etc) but weren’t in the mood to do any tours or do anything more than just walk around and enjoy!

Normandy

The next morning (Thanksgiving Da), we got up very early and did the 3 hour drive to Normandy with our guide. We spent most of the day there, exploring the old bunkers, seeing the beaches, walking on Omaha Beach, and visiting the cemetery. It was both harrowing and eye-opening to see it in real life. Learning about “Ray’s Rock” and the time capsule at the cemetery were a few of the unforgettable moments of the day. It was also a little eerie because it was all pretty much empty. We saw only a few other tourists! We were back in Paris by dinner and grabbed sushi and chocolate after. It was the perfect non-traditional way to spend Thanksgiving day!
