Weekends Like This

At the risk of sounding cheesy, I'm going to just say it: I was so grateful for this weekend that I felt inspired to do an entire blog post about it! It was one of those weekends that wasn't entirely planned, but ended up being amazing because I spent time with many (but certainly not all!) of the people I love most in this world. This afternoon I kind of stopped myself and realized that this is what life is all about.

It started off with an early Saturday morning run with one of my best friends, Morgan. We always laugh so much when we're together! Next, Derek and I ran some errands and although running errands sounds mundane, nothing with Derek is ever really that mundane (given his ridiculous sense of humor). The evening was spent with my amazing in-laws, eating healthy and delicious food, catching up on life, and watching the Warriors win. I love spending time with them because they are basically the future version of Derek and I!

This morning I went to the gym and then on a long hike with my mom, which is always so nice because we get our exercise in while chatting about anything and everything. Afterwards, we went to see my Poa Poa at her house and ended up chatting for 3 hours! I love when the 3 of us spend time together because it's literally 3 generations coming together - so funny to hear our different perspectives on different topics. Later today, we grabbed smoothies with my sister and her boyfriend, and as usual had so many good laughs. It totally felt like summer again today, so that was the icing on the cake to a practically perfect weekend.

Someday, I will look back on this post and my heart will feel so happy because I will know that I stopped to smell the roses. Life is short and as I get older, I realize that it only becomes sweet by spending it with people I love. So to my older, (hopefully wiser), future self: don't forget to stop and smell the roses. And if you have more weekends like this, then you can never go wrong. Xoxo
