Girls Trip 2017: London Edition
My mom, sister and I decided to do an extra special, girls only vacation this fall - and it may be the best decision we've ever made! Initially we were planning to explore London for a week, but I knew I wouldn't forgive myself if we went all that way and didn't squeeze in Paris too :-) So we packed our life up into a few bags and made our way over the Atlantic to the beautiful destinations of London and Paris. Although the places were magnificent and the scenery was stunning, the best moments were those small moments spent laughing at something ridiculous, laying in bed watching a movie together at night, or frantically running around the streets of London at 5:30am trying to find a bus... those are the moments that I'll always hold on to! I know that someday I'll look back and be so glad we carved out this time to be together. I can't wait to have more adventures with these two beauties who hold so much space in my heart. It was the adventure of a lifetime! Xoxo
NOTTING HILL
Notting Hill was by far my favorite place in London. The town was as quaint and adorable as you would think. I also loved going into the actual store where Julia Roberts filmed Notting Hill! From the pastel-colored houses, to the antique market, to the delicious crepes and bakeries, Notting Hill is literally the cutest little English town ever!
LONDON BRIDGE, SHAKESPEARE'S GLOBE & LONDON EYE
We made our way over to see a few iconic London sights, including the globe theatre where Shakespeare held his plays and marked the genre by the color of the flag hanging outside. We also spotted the London Bridge and rode on the flyer that was right next to the London Eye. It went pretty high up and my sister and I were both frozen with fear the entire time. We basically flew in circles in the air with our feet dangling, but the view from so high was breathtaking!
BIG BEN, BUCKINGHAM PALACE & CHINATOWN
For some reason, Big Ben has always been on my list of things to see. It was so beautiful, especially with the clouds in the background, so we naturally had to do a mini photo shoot :-) We did more touristy shots in the phone booths, and then made our way over to Buckingham Palace which was huge and gorgeous! My sister also had her first slot machine experience since you only have to be 18 to gamble in Europe, and then we made our way to Chinatown for some dinner and dessert.
HARRY POTTER STUDIO TOUR
LEAVESDEN, UK
We spontaneously decided to book the Harry Potter studio tour because my sister is such a huge fan and we wanted to do something different. We had to take both the underground and the overground to get to our bus pickup center in Leavesden, and I was sweating bullets because we had to sit through 18 stops and we were running late. Luckily, we made it in time and they were totally lax about the time! The tour was absolutely amazing -- all of the original sets and costumes and props were on display, and we even got to film ourselves flying on a broom! We of course had some butter beer but the best part was seeing the Hogwarts castle display at the end. It took my breath away!
