Turning 33 in Vancouver, Canada

As I slowly transition from my early to mid thirties, I’ve realized that taking long walks around big cities is one of the only things keeping me sane these days. Despite lots of paperwork and testing requirements to get from the US to Canada and back, we were able to pull it off. We had one of the best weekends - definitely one for the books. I went to Vancouver on a solo trip a few years ago for less than 24 hours, so this time I was excited to have some more time to explore the city and truly relax. We did a bunch of random things but the highlights were:

  • Walking around Gastown, Chinatown and Yaletown

  • Drinking some of the BEST smoothies and fresh juices we’ve ever had

  • Watching James Bond in bed (decided to just splurge and watch it on-demand in the hotel room - if that’s not spoiling yourself I don’t know what is)

  • Sleeping 10 hrs the first night because we were so exhausted

  • Walking along the seawall and taking an unplanned forest hike detour through Stanley Park

  • Getting the most amazing, intense 60 min foot massage (almost fell asleep)

  • Taking the little boat to Granville Island 2x to visit the Public Market (our fave place)

  • Eating the most delicious chocolate covered orange peels

  • Wandering around Indigo for hours, our favorite bookstore

I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday weekend getaway with my favorite person in the world. Getting older is a privilege denied to many, so I am embracing my thirties as much as possible and know that the best is yet to come. This 33rd year around the sun will be full of change and rebirth as I continue to shed layers of my old self that no longer serve me, and grow new layers that reflect who I am yet to become. Xoxo.
